Brain Photobiomodulation

 

Photobiomodulation (PBM) is a bioenergetic process associated with an elevated quality of life in many ways. PBM delivers red and near infrared (NIR) light to enhance mitochondrial cellular function in our body and brain to improve or normalise their functions.

This process is widely translated into positive effects in the body and the brain. Optimal mitochondrial function is vital for our health and on the other hand, mitochondrial dysfunction is associated with most chronic disease. Research has shown that stimulating your brain with near infrared light revitalises mitochondria, increases neural connectivity and blood flow in the brain.

Near infrared light is electromagnetic radiation (with the wavelength of 700-1400 nm) within the electromagnetic spectrum. It is mostly invisible to the naked eye, even if emitted with a high-power density.

Vielight: Powerful Mental Acuity Brain PBM Devices

Vielight uses transcranial and intranasal devices to revitalise mitochondria and improve blood flow in the brain. Vielight devices produce no harmful side effects, no excessive heat, and are safe to use. Currently, Vielight devices are being used in a number of clinical trials including Alzheimer’s disease and traumatic brain injury to cognitive performance. Vielight is currently available as a non-invasive form of brain stimulation and can be effective in maintaining brain wellness and mental acuity.

Vielight Neuro

The Vielight Neuro is a portable personal-use brain PBM device that delivers 810 nm near infrared (NIR) light energy via four LED modules and an intranasal applicator. The four LEDs are directed to the hubs of the default mode network of the brain to support its healthy functioning. A well-functioning default mode network is associated with a well-functioning brain.

We currently use Vielight Neuro Gamma (40 Hz) and Neuro Alpha (10 Hz) headsets in our clinical work.

Vielight Neuro Gamma

The Vielight Neuro Gamma is a personal-use brain PBM device that delivers 810 nm near infrared light, pulsed at 40 Hz which is the frequency of gamma brain waves, via LED clusters. The LEDs are directed to the hubs of the default mode network of the brain. A healthy default mode network is associated with a healthy brain. Gamma brain waves are associated with increased memory activity, sensory perception, focus, cognition and creativity. Published research shows that more intense 40 Hz pulse rate correlates with gamma oscillations within the brain and this frequency is associated with increased cognitive and memory processing and consolidation.

Vielight Neuro Alpha

The Vielight Neuro Alpha is a personal-use brain photobiomodulation device that delivers 810 nm near infrared light energy, pulsed at 10 Hz which is the frequency of alpha brain waves, via LED clusters. The LEDs are directed to the hubs of the default mode network of the brain. Alpha brain waves are present during the resting state of the brain, and aid overall mental coordination, calmness, alertness, mind/body integration and learning. This frequency is associated with improved recovery and a resting brain state. It is ideal for meditation, mindfulness, focus, biohacking and general wellness.
